Non-Ohio residents in the United States can now apply for the National Buckeye Scholarship at Ohio State University (OSU). This is a merit award open to incoming new students pursuing their first undergraduate degree full-time at the Ohio State University Columbus campus.

Brief Description of the National Buckeye Scholarship

Non-Ohio residents (U.S. citizens or permanent residents) who are highly competitive as demonstrated by grade point average, class rank (if available), high school curriculum rigor, and ACT or SAT scores are eligible for the National Buckeye Scholarship at OSU (if available).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Countries that are eligible: the United States
  • Acceptable Courses or Subjects: The award will be given to undergraduate students studying any subject.
  • Eligible Criteria: Non-Ohio residents who rank in the top 25% of their graduating classes and have an ACT composite score of 29 or higher or a SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math score equivalent of 1330 or higher are considered.
  • Students must be full-time students at Ohio State.
  • Applicants must be in their first year of undergraduate study.

  • Entry Requirements: To be eligible for the merit award, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The FAFSA is strongly encouraged for all candidates.
  • Language Requirement: To study at OSU, students must have excellent English language skills.


A deserving student will receive $13,500 from Ohio State University. The $54,000 total is a four-year value. Fund amounts and eligibility requirements are subject to change without notice.

How to Apply

Students must apply for admission to Ohio State University for their first undergraduate degree. Students who enroll will be automatically considered for the National Buckeye Scholarship.
